Welcome to The Desert Burrow!

We've made the decision to leave the city and homestead in the desert. We have started research and land searching. As we've been learning, there are some great little tidbits on the internet about desert homesteading, however they are rare. Most of the sites we've found are geared towards homesteading in lush, farmland areas. We've gleaned a lot of great information from them, but have had to curtail them to our environment.

The desert presents special challenges to homesteaders. Water availability, shade, gardening, and keeping animals all require a different approach.

We decided to start this blog to help out other desert homesteaders and to keep a record for ourselves. We'll tell stories of our experiences, share resources, and talk about what we did well and what could have been done differently.
